You’re never too old to have fun, that’s what I say. When I get to seventy, I hope I’m still having the time of my life, going clubbing every weekend and drinking champagne and strawberries for breakfast. After all, I am going to have my super fund available to me then so I should be swimming in it. Especially if I don’t have kids.
Recently a friend of mine turned thirty. She asked me to come over and do her makeup for her for the birthday party which was to be at an ice skating rink. She’d hired a function venue in Melbourne near Docklands. I gave her pink lippy to match her ice skating get-up and rouged her cheeks for that Russian-cold look.
I was a little skeptical of the venue at first because it seemed like somewhere you takes kids to for their tenth birthdays. I didn’t think that we would have as much fun with it being in our late twenties and early thirties. Also, I also knew that a lot of businesses hire the function rooms which gave me the impression that it might be very clinical. However, it was nothing of the sort.
We put on the skates and stumbled around the rink for the first fifteen minutes. We got an introductory lesson from one of the people there. They were so helpful and we were skating in no time. Jenny had chosen the music and she chose a bunch of 70s disco classics, so we felt a bit like movie stars. I never knew how fun ice skating at Melbourne city party venues could be!
The venue also had a catering service and we ate some really nice food there. They were particularly good for me because they made sure there were gluten free and vegetarian alternatives to the main party foods. By the time the party was over, Jenny had done so much skating that her makeup had run and I had to apply it again.
