The good the bad and the ugly of aluminium platforms

aluminium work platformsIn my job as a personal beauty consultant, I see a lot of things. And I mean, so many things, both divine and disastrous, in the world of fashion and beauty. One thing I never thought I’d see is the import-export industry and the fashion world collide, but I was recently approached by an eccentric old character in charge of a manufacturing business. Some may call this businessman sexist, others an aesthete, but I pass no judgment – each to their own. The main quirk in the way he likes to operate his business is to hire all female staff and dress them up… in costumes.

These costumes include maid outfits, nurses outfits, catwoman lycra outfits and many more. He likes to have his girls standing up on their aluminium work platforms while he passes through the factory, checking the efficiency and making sure everything’s in order. Despite the costumes and elaborate make up, the women do follow safety procedures which is a relief, but I heard he had his container access platforms custom-made to for maximum viewing capability using grid designs among other techniques. Basically all of the scaffolding in the warehouse is see-through when you walk underneath, including some of the most interesting ladder platforms Melbourne has to offer. Only in this crazy Aussie city would you find such an astonishing company. The aluminium scaffolding, ladders and planks are all highly stylised too, giving them a gleaming look reminiscent of dark places full of pulsing music.

During my time doing hair and makeup for these ostentatiously-dressed construction workers, I’ve found that the business is quite successful in Melbourne. Perhaps it has something to do with the prospective trading partners and associates getting a free tour of the factory. That said, the women are all fully qualified at their packing and shipping jobs and the business does run smoothly despite its “quirks”.
