Suits are an example of an oppressive society, and they must be eliminated. Oh, and don’t think that formal-wear for women will be spared. The Society of Formal-wear Elimination does not discriminate in its goal to get everyone in offices wearing t-shirts and jeans, and generally being all the more comfortable for it.
Let’s just be honest with ourselves: how many people LIKE dressing up like identical drones every single day? Who actually thinks that ties are necessary? Not to mention how long it takes to put the blasted things on at the right length.
Business attire is just foolish, and should be eliminated except for people who are actually into it, which is…a minority. And maybe estate agents. And buyers advocates. And I guess shady government agents, but only to distinguish themselves.
Okay, picture this: you live in Melbourne, buyers advocates come to your door and say they’d love to find you a new home. Another one comes up right behind. Let’s say the first guy is in a crisp suit with a tie, and the second one is in…maybe some really fashionable jeans and one of those knitted jumpers that looks quite chic while allowing for freedom of movement. Which one do you choose?
Maybe you said the guy in the suit, but ah, let’s think about this. You want professionalism, but this is a property advocate. They do a lot of walking, looking around the place and such. And after that, they have to come back and chat to you in comfortable surroundings about what they find, whether it would suit your needs, etc. And you’d make someone do all that in a suit? You heartless monster. The property advocates of Melbourne deserve better treatment than this. In fact, every professional does, which is why you’ll soon be seeing offices in cozy cotton and running shoes. The sooner we cast off this stigma that ‘uncomfortable’ equals ‘professional’, the better.
